Policy for Using Copyrighted Materials

Purpose of This Policy

The mission of Ambassadors of Reconciliation is equipping and assisting Lutherans for living, proclaiming, and cultivating lifestyles of reconciliation. We do this, in part, through our seminars and teaching materials. By God's grace, we receive many inquiries from people who desire to teach and use our materials in various ways. This policy sets forth the manner in which people who are not on the Ambassadors of Reconciliation staff may teach, adapt, and/or use copyrighted Ambassadors of Reconciliation materials or excerpts from them and integrate Ambassadors of Reconciliation concepts into other available material.

Through this policy:

Integration of Ambassadors of Reconciliation Concepts into Other Materials

Ambassadors of Reconciliation encourages others to draw freely on the concepts that we have developed to communicate biblical peacemaking.

Teaching Seminars

We have developed Bible studies and several standard seminars on various aspects of biblical conflict resolution. These Bible studies and seminars are currently available in printed form, and are also presented in person by Ambassadors of Reconciliation staff members.

You are welcome to teach any of our Bible studies and our two seminars on basic biblical peacemaking – Blessed Are the Peacemakers Seminar and Getting to the Heart of Conflict Seminar – provided you adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Bible Studies and Seminars: Teach without charge within your own local church, denomination, or ministry. You are encouraged to purchase our materials and use them to teach internal groups (within your church, ministry or denominational group) how to respond to conflict biblically, without charging a fee. You may teach any of our Bible study material without any instructor qualifications. We recommend that those who intend to present our seminars attend one of our seminars on that topic prior to teaching it themselves. There are no other instructor qualifications required for any of these types of free "in-house" training in churches, Sunday school classes, small group Bible studies, sermons, and staff workshops. Denominational groups that have been licensed by Ambassadors of Reconciliation to adapt these seminar materials may teach the licensed material within their own denomination consistent with the terms of the licensing agreement. You may recover actual expenses for materials purchased from Ambassadors of Reconciliation.
  2. Seminars: Orally report in the introduction of the teaching of seminars that you are not employed or contracted by Ambassadors of Reconciliation but are teaching this seminar in accord with the policy for teaching copyrighted materials by Ambassadors of Reconciliation. In addition, a written statement should be distributed with the seminar guide that states: "The person presenting this seminar is not employed or contracted by Ambassadors of Reconciliation but is teaching this material in accord with the policy for teaching copyrighted materials by Ambassadors of Reconciliation."
  3. If you are a Certified Christian Conciliator™ with Peacemaker® Ministries, and have received a Teaching License from Ambassadors of Reconciliation, you may teach these two basic seminars outside of your church or ministry or for a fee in any setting. The Teaching License will require that you clearly communicate that you are not a representative of Ambassadors of Reconciliation, that you not use any of our seminar titles, and that if requested you will provide Ambassadors of Reconciliation with the name and telephone number of each organization for which you provide training.
